Lochaber is a mountaineering area par excellence with a high concentration of wonderful mountains with memorable routes to their summits. The area is also subject to the full force of atlantic lows during the winter months, which make it a renowned ice climbing and winter walking destination. For the average walker, the Tourist Path from Achintee provides the most popular route to the summit, although the magnificant cliffs, snow filled corries and ridges that fall down into the Allt a' Mhuillin, on the north side of the mountain, remain hidden until the top is reached.
