The glen lies east to west with the steep hillsides of The Three Sisters to the south, and the Aonach Eagach or 'Notched Ridge' to the north. Guarding the entrance to the glen from Rannoch Moor is the mighty Buachaille Etive Mor, the most spectacular of all the Scottish mountains.
