San Francisco, on the Pacific coast of northern California, is a major technology, cultural and tourist centre. It is surrounded on three sides by the San Francisco Bay and Pacific Ocean with links to 'the valley' (mainland Califormia) via the Golden Gate Bridge and Bay Bridge.
