Patagonia lies at the bottom of the South American continent and is shared between Argentina and Chile. Most of the region is barren scrub that is plagued by high winds that have stripped the land of its vegetation, but where the Andes rise along the border, the wild mountains of spires and ice are truly spectacular.
Unique in the otherwise tropical South America, Patagonia is a distinct geographical region that lies completely within the cool temperate zone at the southernmost tip of the continent.
