The medieval city of Bhaktapur is known as the third city in the Kathmandu valley, after Kathmandu itself, and Patan. It is a half-hour taxi drive from downtown Kathmandu and a living gem of Hindu temples, pagodas, palaces and ancient monuments, some dating back to the 16th century.
