Islamabad (population: 580,000) is the capital city of Pakistan, and is situated towards the north of the country at the southern end of the Kakakoram Highway. Islamabad does not lend itself to tourists being very much an administritive and diplomatic capital, but does boast one of the largest mosque's in the world.
