Geysers are only found in the United States, Iceland, New Zealand and Kamchatka, and the cluster of geysers, fumaroles and hot springs in this valley were only discovered in 1941. There are about 250 geysers in total including a few with large but brief periodic eruptions, and many more which produce hot water spouts frequently or almost continuously.
