Beijing, the capital of China, and with a population of over 14 million people, is one of the world's largest cities. It was first established as the capital in the Yuan dynatsy (1279 - 1368) and has many imposing sights, although because the sea of change sweeping through China it can feel very modern.

The Temple of Heaven was built during the Ming Dynasty and used by the Emperor to make sacrifices and pray to heaven at the winter solstice.
